The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari

I watched a great silent film last night, titled The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. I get a kick out of the actors and their jerky movements and over-dramatized facial expressions. Besides, the movie was very psychological and I learned a new word: Somnambulist, meaning sleepwalker. Very good movie. Not for the easily bored or people with no sense of culture, however.

I think I've seen this one, can't say for sure, but I remember it being a little Kabuki-ish. But ther were so many "art" and "film noir" movies that I've seen that they've all become a blur. Here's another word for you: sollipsist.

Whoa, deep word. :) It's very "cogito ergo sum"
As a rule, I like silent films, and serious and even scary ones like Nosferatu are a nice break from all the Charlie Chaplin I have. Not that I don't like Charlie (or even Buster Keaton), I just like a change.

I love old films in general... but I truly love these!! I agree...it will put a lot of folks to sleep, but I just dig staying up into the wee hours of the morning watching these flicks and pretending I live in the past!
