Absence makes the heart grow lonely
07.09.05 (5:17 pm) [edit]
It's been three weeks and I haven't heard a word from the boyfriend. Not a phone call or letter or email or anthing. Granted, no cell phones work where he is in the mountains, and there are no computers in the ashram (temple) where he is staying, but you'd think a person could at least write a line or two in three weeks. I'm beginning to feel abandoned. I've been completely faithful, and I feel like I have all the restrictions and none of the benefits of a beau. Is it time I called it quits or should I give him more time?
Uggh..Love... you can keep it.

SETI? Your boyfriend's on a mountain retreat, he didn't get abducted by aliens... chill, girl. In any case, do what feels right. Oh, and just a thought: is he one of those guys who go on retreats for leisure, or does he do it to learn to live without attachments? Coz if it's the latter... love is an attachment you know. Just a sober thought.

I know I know... You're the level-headed perspective I needed. It's not really a retreat per se, but a work study. He lives there free of charge and works, goes to yoga and meditation classes.
I suppose I just had a lonely moment. Three months is a long time when you're young. I guess I have to think like a tree. They don't seem to feel the years as we do. :)

Oh believe me they do... it's just that they don't have mouths with which to express their discontent - a small detail that vegetarians seem to forget when they lecture others about how eating animals is a cruel thing to do. Believe me plants have feelings too... which is why I only eat air these days.
I had a friend once who was a tree. She was 70 when I met her although she barely looked a day over 30 (it's that Botox, I tell you). She shared her fears of being cut down for this or that reason, of her husband leaving her for a younger tree ("The paedophile... she's barely a shrub," she used to say).
