Climb every mountain.....

09.29.04 (3:21 pm)   [edit]

Today in history:

Stacy Allison of Portland, Oregon, becomes the first American woman to reach the summit of Mount Everest, which is called Chomo-Lungma, or "Mother Goddess of the Land," by the Tibetans. The summit of Everest reaches two-thirds of the way through the air of the earth's atmosphere--at about the cruising altitude of jet airliners--and oxygen levels there are very low, temperatures are extremely cold, and weather is unpredictable and dangerous. About two dozen climbers died in attempts to reach the top of Everest in the 20th century.

Craziness

Erratic life does not lend to regular blog updating. Spent most of last night in a smoky bar listening to some amazing blues. Thank god for Pepto Bismol.

I got freedom, brother

09.22.04 (7:53 pm)   [edit]
In history class we watched "Little Buddha".
As a rule I don't expect much from Keanu Reeves as far as acting, but he stunned me in this role. Check it out if you've ever wondered anything about Buddha and his teachings. It's dead accurate and an uplifting piece to indulge in. A far cry from the horror that was the "Passion of the Christ", this movie exudes compassion and inner peace. Love it.

Jekyll and Hyde

09.20.04 (11:09 am)   [edit]

One of my classes was canceled today so I have about and hour and 15 minutes to myself to update this wonderful little bloggy among other things. :)
Rehearsals are many and very exciting. The cast I work with is composed of both experienced and inexperienced people so the knowledgable ones sort of take the others under their wings with compassion and patience. It's a good environment for creativity and fairness. I no longer shake at rehearsals out of fear or nervousness anymore, but out of sheer excitement and energy waiting to express itself. It's Jekyll and Hyde thing (sans the evil part) that happens with me onstage. Once I get in public, I'm not afraid of performing and do it with relish. Once I'm out of the limelight, it's like waking up after being drunk all night. You're not sure if it was all a dream and half of the time you don't even remember what exactly you did while you were up there. And you're really drained. It's like karmic sex or something. I sure don't need speed, cause I'm living off of adrenaline right now!

My Good Karma Downpour

09.14.04 (8:46 pm)   [edit]
I've had the absolute best week! (so far)
On Sunday, I got the part, Monday I found out what guy on bus#1's name was (Alex), today, I got an A+ on my huge history essay test. Everyone else failed. I am really starting to be thankful my parents scraped and sent me to private school all those years. I'm so much better prepared than the rest of these kids. I shouldn't be prideful though. Bad karma. :)
What else is the universe going to throw at me? I love it right now. Veritable karma downpour. Hmmm. Maybe I'll invite Alex to this film noir thing this weekend. If he likes film noir. Just another excuse to talk to him. Did I mention I love hazel eyes? :D

No Shirt No Shoes, No Service

09.08.04 (12:07 pm)   [edit]

I decided to go barefoot today. It's amazing how many places really don't enforce their supposed no shoes policy. As long as you're modest and unassuming, most people react with a mixture of amusement and admiration. I'm sure those poor flight attendants would be happy to get out of their high heels for a day. The poor things must have feet composed entirely of corns!

Hey You

09.07.04 (6:13 pm)   [edit]
I've decided to sing Hey Jude for the audition. Besides that, nothing special today. Except the one cute guy I was expecting to see on the bus this afternoon was replaced by another enigmatically handsome guy who actually made a point to sit by me. I'm so junior high, I know, but being in the presence of interesting people is such a turn on.

In and Out of Character

09.05.04 (11:07 am)   [edit]
I've decide to audition for Hair. I've never auditioned for anything in my life, but something inside me is telling me, "don't pass this up" and I won't ignore possibility. Even if I suck out loud at the audition and fall flat on my face, I can still at least go see the show, and at least I'll know that I tried. It's better than the uncertainty of wondering. What has given me this kamkazee urge to perform I have no idea, but I'm excited to see what happens. Even if I get a part in the chorus and only bounce around onstage for a couple minutes, it'll be all worth it. I can't wait to see what Fate has in store for me.

09.04.04 (3:41 am)   [edit]

My plug of the month: Yes, I am shameless. Check out these guys. Excellent band with an amazing insight into music. They're called the Shins. They may not look like much, but I swear, they will change your life.

Candy corn is not vegan

09.04.04 (3:16 am)   [edit]

Had a really fun Zoology class today. We had a "model" concerning evolution (involving candy corn) and it proved to be engaging, and, as most know, laughter is the only way everybody truly learns, and it's safe to say we all learned a lot. The outside of the candy corn package said made with real honey. Why do vegans consider honey to be a fobidden food? I hate to be an iconoclast, what is so sacred about bee barf? :D

Time is not free

09.03.04 (10:24 am)   [edit]

I've been going to school a lot lately. I thought I had no free time before- Ha. The weekend anymore is looked toward with a sort of reverential awe. Anything can and often does happen on the weekend. No, strike that. That makes my life seem way more interesting than it really is. But this weekend will be grand. No more wasting a Saturday in front of the tube, ho no siree, I've got a list of things I want to see and do. I'll see one of my good friends this weekend too. I wonder if living in the real world has changed her any. She wanted to be a nun before. I've got such interesting people around me. One wants to be a nun, another is an amazing hotshot mechanic, one's a philosopher, and one's currently on a work release from jail for "residential burglary" as he calls it. Why can't he just say "I stole stuff from someone's house", or "I was a crappy thief and got caught"? Residential burglary sounds like he trimmed the hedges or something. :)
No time like now to be happy! Jump for joy, do a dance, laugh out loud and see how good it feels.

Garden of Eden

09.01.04 (2:14 pm)   [edit]

Tblog's been fiesty with me the past two days or so, so I'll keep it short until the wonderful techies over there get back from Starbucks.
Went to see Garden State with my sister over the weekend. I'm telling you, this one's a piece of art. Anyone who's breathing should see it.
Love, me

Good luck in the infinite abyss.
